Esperanza Rising

By Pam Muñoz Ryan

Esperanza is a rich girl with a rich pa. Everything is fun and happy until Esperanza’s birthday comes near. Something fatal happens to her father but no one knows who did it. Then a few days after, someone sets her house on fire. Still no one knows who did it. Or do they?

Esperanza’s family is in danger. They have to run away. But where? Where will they go?  So many questions. Now Esperanza is living a life she never thought she would have. She is not used to working, to changing diapers, to even cooking a pot of rice. Will Esperanza be able to survive this uncomfortable life, or will she die a poor and starving woman? Find out in Esperanza Rising.

I was blown away by Pam Muñoz Ryan’s writing. Through the whole book you want Esperanza to feel good and be in a good mood. You can tell how she is feeling and how her mother also feels. When you read this book there is no way you won’t like it.

I’m so glad you enjoyed this, Soph. I’ve added Camille to the reviewed by line.

If you like Pam Munoz Ryan’s writing style, I’d recommend another book by her, Becoming Naomi Leon. I’m not sure if we have it in our class library, though.

Oh I was going to read that too, and I saw it in our class library. If I was mistaken. it’s probably in our school library. 🙂
